Worldwide famous Canadian singer, The Weeknd is set to drop multiple NFTs in collaboration with Binance to celebrate his World Tour. His ‘After Hours ‘Til Dawn’ tour is “crypto-powered”.

The Weeknd is an internationally recognized music star.

About the Binance Tour NFTs

Crypto exchange platform, Binance is working with Canadian singer, The Weeknd on his upcoming tour. The company initially founded in China, will sponsor the ‘After Hours ‘Til Dawn’ tour. Currently, only the North American leg is confirmed, after he cancelled his European tour.

Through the partnership between the two, Binance will produce multiple NFTs. Alongside this, they will donate $2 million to the XO  Humanitarian Fund, started by The Weeknd. He started this earlier this year. They have claimed that it will be the first global concert tour to use web3 technology for fan experiences.

HXOUSE will also be involved with the tour. The Toronto-based community incubator will develop an NFT collection to commemorate the tour, as well as merchandise. 5% of the funds from the additional NFTs will be donated to the XO Humanitarian Fund also.

As we have seen with other events, those who attend the concert will get a virtual ticket stub. This can be redeemed for NFTs celebrating the show.

Who is The Weeknd?

Abel Tesfaye, more commonly known as ‘The Weeknd’ to his millions of adoring fans is a singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada. He has been active in the music industry since 2009, winning an array of 139 awards including 4 Grammys and 20 Billboard Music Awards. His music could be described as R&B, Pop, or Hip-Hop, depending on the song.

Some of his most famous songs include ‘Save Your Tears’, ‘Blinding Lights’ and ‘The Hills’ to name a few. His song, ‘Earned It’ also featured in the soundtrack of the hit movie ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.

In 2009, when he started, he simply posted anonymous music on YouTube. After two years, he co-founded the XO record label and released some of his early songs where he build up recognition for his style.

His NFT Journey so far

The Weeknd isn’t quite new to NFTs. He did release NFTs on the art-focused Nifty Gateway marketplace. The collection was titled ‘Acephalous’ and was done in collaboration with Strangeloop Studios. There were a few editions in the hundreds in terms of item numbers, as well as a 1/1 auction, where the highest bid was $490,000.

Beyond this, he is also a Board of Directors member at the NFT platform, Autograph. This was co-founded by 7-time Superbowl winner, Tom Brady. Further, ‘The Weeknd’ NFTs were also launched on the platform.

Finally, more broadly, the star musician has invested in Everyrealm, which is a company that buys and builds on virtual land in the metaverse.
