The good ol’ funk and groove vibes are coming to the metaverse! The Sandbox has partnered up with Jamiroquai, the seminal jazz-funk band led by Jay Kay, to bring the group’s free-spirited essence to virtual reality. Leading names in the music industry were involved in the fruition of the collaboration, including Bravado, Universal Music Group’s industry-leading brand management division.
For those who aren’t acquainted with some of the finest music of the 90’s, Jamiroquai is a legendary funk and acid jazz band from London. Known for the global smash, “Virtual Insanity”, and a string of hit albums and worldwide tours, the Grammy-winning band has sold more than 27 million albums worldwide. Its third album, Travelling Without Moving, received a Guinness World Record as the best-selling funk album in history.
A special venue is being built in The Sandbox for Jamiroquai, where fans can come together in The Sandbox for a bit of funk, freedom, and fashion and connect with their favorite band in a communal, digital space.
To celebrate the partnership, an exclusive Jamiroquai x Sandbox merchandise collection comprising a limited-edition t-shirt and keyring is available on store.jamiroquai.com. More details about the collaboration will be revealed in the coming months.
