Tezos Foundation Starts Fund For Collecting NFTs By Asian x African Artists

The Tezos Foundation, a Swiss non-profit organization from the Tezos blockchain, has announced a £1 million fund. The fund aims to collect NFTs from emerging African and Asian artists. Interestingly, the collection will take the form of a digital art gallery on the foundation’s website. Besides, British photographer, Misan Harriman will curate the works of the artists.

Tezos Foundation’s New Fund: All You Need to Know

Founded in 2017, the Tezos Foundation has access to around £1 billion in funds. A year later, Tezos launched the Tezos network, an open-source blockchain. For the past year, Tezos has been taking several initiatives to bring creators and collectors to its platform. The upcoming Permanent Art Collection (PAC) and a Digital Art Gallery is the latest effort in this regard.

An activist and a creative director, Harriman will curate the PAC’s first Digital Art Gallery. The acclaimed photographer is also the chairman of London’s Southbank Centre. Besides, he is the first Black photographer to shoot the front cover of British Vogue. For Tezos’ NFT collection, he will focus on acquiring works of “up-and-coming” artists from “underrepresented” areas.

“The Tezos Foundation Permanent Collection will support and celebrate a new generation of artists that have chosen a smart contract-enabled path to be their true selves,” said Harriman. “As the first curator of this collection I want to make sure the world sees the diverse voices that are making truly extraordinary work with crypto art. We will be the custodian for this new community of creatives.”

Recently, the Tezos Ecosystem has been part of several premier art and culture events across the globe. This includes Art Basel Miami Beach in December 2021 and SXSW ’22 in March 2022.
