The Goo Goo Dolls band are releasing “limited edition, eco-friendly NFTs” for every city they’re visiting in their summer tour, per their announcement Twitter post. They added that the digital collectibles will only be available at shows on tour, so those attending should keep an eye out for QR codes to scan at the venues.

Due to drawing information from their album ‘Chaos in Bloom’. they will substitute the word ‘bloom’ for the various cities on the tour. Each NFT will be animated artwork morphing to reveal further information regarding each show.

Despite what the band said about the NFTs only being available at shows, the various NFTs can be seen, and are available to purchase, on the Fanaply platform currently for $25. The eco-friendly nature comes from the blockchain on which they’re being hosted: Polygon. The blockchain has been praised for this eco-friendliness for a long time.

Unfortunately, some of the Goo Goo Dolls’ fans took to Twitter with some confusion. One Twitter user, @susanmfhorn, questioned: “What does NFT stand for?”. Whilst another, @EmeraldLatias, angrily stated: “There is no such thing as eco-friendly NFTs. Whoever sold you that is lying through their teeth.” Fanaply responded to the Tweet with what they do to protect the environment.
