To celebrate the history-making contributions in which two senior figures from its medical department made with regards to the worldwide fight against the COVID-19 virus, The University of Pennsylvania is auctioning off a limited-edition, entirely unique NFT based upon mNRA medical technology.
The 1/1 asset is dubbed the ‘MRNA NFT,’ and is essentially a digital memorial of the work which Dr. Drew Weissman and Dr. Katalin Karikó conducted in order to bolster the mRNA vaccine’s push-back against COVID-19. It includes a 3D video which illustrates the mechanics of the mRNA vaccine at the microscopic level, and is also complemented with a copy of the original patent documents, as well as a letter from Weissman.
The asset includes an additional version of the video which comes with captions that describe the on-screen action, as well as a visual storyboard which explains how the mechanics of the mRNA technology works, and how it helps stimulate the body’s immune system to fight against COVID-19.
The asset, which will be available for auction on Christie’s between July 15th and July 25th, is expected to generate a winning bid of between $200,000 and $300,000. Bids can be made in either Ethereum, Bitcoin, or USD coin, with all of the generated proceeds to be used for advancing important research across The University of Pennsylvania.
