How could NFTs change the way a Democracy (or Republic) is ran?

I am by no means an NFT expert, but I was curious if NFTs/Blockchain could possibly provide a new system of secure voting. Maybe even allow for citizens to vote on individual issues either instead of having a representative for the area, or maybe just that the rep. will have to follow the majority vote among their constituents? Is this a future possibility?
