Chevrolet’s Upcoming NFT Comes With a 1/1 Corvette Z06

Chevrolet (a.k.a. Chevy) has announced itself as the latest automobile manufacturer to take the plunge into Web3, as it is auctioning off a Corvette-themed NFT titled ‘Own the Color’. As with many a NFT, the digital asset comes with an extravagant hitch which sees its holder race away with the actual sports car that is featured on it.

The xsullo-designed car featured on the NFT is a lime green Corvette Z06, which is seen racing through cyberpunk-styled metropolis. Although we all love NFTs, its physical counterpart, which is undoubtedly the vocal point of the auction, is a 5.5-litre, V-8 mid-engine 2023 Corvette Z06.

To match the artwork of the NFT, it will be custom painted with a mint green finish, where, to essentially make the car non-fungible in of itself, Chevy will ensure that it’s the only Z06 to sport such aesthetic. The car will also carry the option code ‘RFN’ to forever associate it with the NFT auction.

The auction for the ‘Own the Color’ NFT will take place on SuperRare between June 20th–24th, with bids to only be accepted in Ethereum. According to the company, all proceeds from the winning bid will go to education-oriented charity DonorsChoose.

The winning bidder can expect to receive their NFT instantly, however, because the Z06 isn’t expected to go into production until summer 2022, they will most likely receive the car when the model is released for general sale in 2023.
