TAG Heuer Launches NFT-Displaying Smartwatch

TAG Heuer Launches NFT-Displaying Smartwatch

After launching a crypto payments method to its US online store just a few weeks ago, luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer is now taking an even bigger leap into Web3 by launching a watch which allows owners to display their NFTs on its digital face. Dubbed the ‘Connected Calibre E4,’ the new smartwatch is able to sync JPEG and GIF NFTs from MetaMask and Ledger wallets to its digital interface.

Similar to the verified NFT displays of Twitter, the NFTs displayed on the Connected Calibre E4 will be showcased within a hexagonal border, which is a design feature that was born from convocations the company held with an array of blue-chip NFT communities.

In addition to NFTs, the watch can also display personal photos of the owner (presumably through syncing with their phone’s storage), as well as images which have been created by the TAG Heuer brand.

Thanks to TAG Heuer’s partnership with crypto payments service Bitpay, the watch, which has a RRP of $2000, can be purchased using thirteen different cryptocurrencies on its online store, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Dogecoin.

As per TAG Heuer’s CEO Frédéric Arnault’s comments on the watch’s launch, it appears that launching an NFT-displaying watch that can be purchased using crypto is merely the beginning of the company’s Web3 journey: “I have had a deep interest in the NFT space, and this feature fits with TAG Heuer’s tradition of being avant-garde and innovative in technology. Watch this space, as TAG Heuer will have more stories to tell about Web3″.
