It has been quite a long since the last HTC flagman smartphone’s release. After a period of stagnation, the company has recently announced its big comeback teasing the first-ever metaverse phone release under the HTC’s Viverse brand. According to the company’s Twitter, the metaverse phone will debut on June 28th. “Log in to the Future. 2022.06.28,” HTC’s Tweeter post reads.
The first hint on releasing a Viverse phone was sounded back in March 2022 at Mobile World Congress (MWC). The news caused quite mixed reactions, as the company’s last internationally accepted flagman was released back in 2018. Since then, HTC produced only mid-range models, with the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G released in 2021 being the last one.
Currently, it’s not much known about the phone itself or its price. However, the rumors circulating in the Twitter community suggest that it will be a limited-edition series available in very few markets.
As for the Viverse, here things go a bit less shady. As the Taiwanese company says, Viverse is “an interoperable ecosystem where different content platforms interconnect to form a seamless user experience in a decentralized, secure, and open way.”
According to HTC, their new breakthrough phone will be compatible with their own metaverse, dubbed Viverse. How the company will be implementing the planned integration, it’s left to discover
