Following a very public voicing of support for Web3 gaming, Epic has announced its first blockchain-based title. As a result, Gala Games’ wild west free-for-all, GRIT, will debut on the platform.
When Steam ‘banned’ blockchain-based titles from its video game distribution service, leading competitor, Epic, welcomed them with open arms. Now, as this support bears fruit, Gala Games prepares to launch its Western-themed battle royale, GRIT, via the Epic store.
GRIT will see players battle to the death in the dusty badlands of the lawless wild west, utilizing whatever weapons and equipment they can find to take down their resilient foes. Meanwhile, a whole host of NFT benefits will ensure they rock the American frontier in true bronco style.
The first set of 10k avatar NFTs will debut at this year’s Galaverse event, taking place right now on the sunny island of Malta. Owners will gain access to an exclusive world of customizability and unique content.

Going forward, Gala Games has slated GRIT for full release later in the year, while additionally hinting at further titles arriving on Epic in the near future, with the recently announced Battlestar Galactica MMO looking the most likely.
This development marks a huge cous for Gala, as it opens up Epic’s massive 194 million userbase to the prospect of Web3 gaming, potentially representing a watershed moment for the industry as a whole.
