Crypto Twitter has accused yet another “ethical hacker” of an NFT rug pull. The white hat hacker, FFRembrandt @SOLMiningPunkV2, executed an NFT rug pull and allegedly continues to steal from the community. Let’s take a closer look.
Why is this white hat hacker being accused of an NFT rug pull?
According to on-chain analyst @NFTherder: “Before being known as SOLMiningPunk he went by Dogforce, DogeForce-1, and DogeForce.eth. Under these aliases he created DEM Chick’s. A female anime art project. Ofc there’s nothing wrong with creating your own female anime nfts.”
However, @NFTherder continues to say that what @SOLMiningPunkV2 did was sell it off as his own original art. Instead of fully creating it himself, he used a point-and-click app named Anime Avatar Maker. Then, he used OpenSea’s storefront to sell it. What’s more, he put the maximum 10% royalties on it – allegedly pulling off an NFT rug pull.
When he got caught, he took the $ETH and deleted his Twitter accounts. He then rebranded himself as FFRembrandt @SOLMiningPunkV2. In addition to this scandal, he allegedly stole @auguste_lefou’s artwork last year and tried to sell it on Foundation for 0.10 ETH last month. Additionally, on May 25th, he stole art from Anime Punks, and tried to sell it under his own “Famous Punks Collection.”
@nftherder added: “Obviously this is unethical behaviour even more so when you’re dealing with a self-proclaimed ‘certified ethical hacker’ and security specialist. They should know better. I mean, would a self-proclaimed hacker be using the OpenSea storefront to lazy mint all his stolen nfts instead of creating their own contract?”
FFRembrandt @SOLMiningPunkV2’s receipts
FFRembrandt @SOLMiningPunkV2 clapped back via several tweets, saying: “I made 1 minor mistake,I recovered from and moved past to continue forward with the community behind me,that’s what you focus on. Now let’s focus on the good, im security in MULTIPLE BAYC discords which haven’t been compromised since I was hired, all the hackers booted, quick.”
Additionally, FFRembrandt @SOLMiningPunkV2 said he has nothing to hide, and that what @nftherder exposed is already old news. He also thanked all those who came out to support him and refute @NFTherder’s claims.
In the past couple of months, high-profile NFT rug pulls have shaken the NFT community. Most famously, Crypto Twitter accused the Azuki NFT collection of rug pulls and other scandals. However, the community seems to be recovering as the floor price of scandal-ridden projects like Azuki continues to rise.
