This week, the luxury fashion brand Prada will launch its own Ethereum NFT collection. The debut drop includes 100 digital items, set to release on Thursday. Collectors must buy physical merch from Prada’s new collaboration with artist Cassius Hirst in order to get an NFT for free.
How can you mint a Prada NFT?
On Thursday, Prada officially joins the NFT market with its own collection. In fact, the luxury fashion brand will airdrop 100 NFTs along with its new Timecapsule launch. This limited Prada collection features physical button-down shirts created in collaboration with Cassius Hirst.
Thereby, collectors who purchase a Timecapsule clothing item will receive one NFT for free. Surprisingly, each digital item will include a number linked to its corresponding physical shirt.
How will the new NFTs look?
The Prada NFTs are GIFs of black or white capsules in terms of design. Of course, every digital capsule features the iconic Prada logo. It’s a minimalist design that reflects the brand’s luxury fashion style. The brand used the same colors to design the physical shirts.
This could mean that if you buy a black shirt, you’ll get a black Prada capsule NFT. What’s more, the physical apparel features red details – just as the GIF artworks do.
Are luxury fashion NFTs the new trend?
As the NFT market exploded in 2021, fashion giants decided to join the trend too. In fact, Prada saw the opportunity months ago when it partnered with Adidas for an NFT drop. The collection was created in collaboration with artist Zach Lieberman.
Nevertheless, Prada has serious competition in terms of luxury fashion collectibles. For example, Dolce & Gabbana already boasts an impressive collection of NFTs. At this moment, the iconic brand is preparing for its DGFamily NFT collection drop. Accordingly, the digital assets will represent jewelry boxes hiding exclusive perks for their holders.
All in all, the upcoming Prada drop will expand the luxury fashion NFT niche. Although the brand will airdrop the collectibles for free, they will likely become more valuable over time. The 100 collectibles will drop on Thursday for all buyers of the Prada x Cassius Hirst physical shirts collection.
