The press has completely obliterated NFT’s with their conflicting views on them. Very smart, reasonable people have said reasonable things that I, too, have agreed with. After years of exposure to all this worldly noise, the acronym has left a bad taste in my mouth that still exists as a write this.
But they have continued to fascinate me and I think its because I see potential in them. I see the opportunity for anyone to make some extra cash, as well as creative people being supported. What’s the harm in that?
As an artist myself, I am not impressed by the art that is selling, but you can’t expect much from the world. I don’t think the important part is the aesthetic value in the work; I think they should be viewed first and foremost as an asset. **They are something that is bought and resold, potentially on and on as long as someone else has more money than you.** *Royalties are payed to the person on the bottom, so how is this not a pyramid scheme?*
If we change our view on them and see them as a way to:
1. Support an artist (even if their greatest works aren’t what are made into NFTs) and
2. Support the supporters..
then we have just accepted and embraced a pyramid scheme, which I think is the best step forward to calm the storm around the whole thing
