Where is Art Basel in Hong Kong and is it Open to the Public?

Art Basel Hong Kong 2022 will feature over 130 local and international creators across its Galleries, Insights, and Discoveries sections. ‘NFTs and the Ever-Evolving World of Art’ will go live from May 24 to 30, 2022.

The general public will have access to the exhibition from May 27 to 29 at Hong Kong’s Convention & Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. The festival will also present a film by and about artists at the Hong Kong Arts Center.

However, those who won’t be able to attend the events in person can exhibit their works through Online Viewing Rooms as part of ‘Art Basel Live: Hong Kong’. In addition, all sectors will have satellite booths for exhibitors who can’t physically attend the event. How do Artists Get into Art Basel?

To exhibit their works at Art Basel, artists have to first send an application. Art Basel’s Selection Committees, made up of prominent gallerists, follow strict criteria to choose the artists. Committee members include Massimo De Carlo, Emi Eu, Urs Meile, and Atsuko Ninagawa, among others.

However, the Applications for Art Basel’s 2022 Hong Kong edition is now closed. That said, applications are still open from Art Basel Miami Beach 2022. You can apply here.

Founded in 1970 by gallerists from Basel, Art Basel is one of the most coveted art shows for modern and contemporary art. This year’s Art Basel will be a great opportunity for art enthusiasts to enjoy some of the best artworks from the Asia Pacific.
