Crypto and NFT Twitter is confused, as the BAYC’s 7th largest holder, @franklinisbored, has Tweeted his support for Ryder Ripps BAYCs, or RRBAYC. To clarify, Ryder Ripps is attempting to call out BAYC and Yuga Labs for racism in their NFTs. Ryder Ripps has also created total copies of BAYC NFTs and is selling them.
Franklin’s Support
Franklin, an NFT whale and Twitter user with over 100,000 followers has Tweeted his support for Ryder Ripps NFTs and their holders: “Show me your Ryder Ripps #RRBAYC apes in the replies. I’ll try to follow as many of y’all as I can!”.
His defence of what he said about the Ryder Ripps BAYC collection was: “I’m serious. If we wanna go global, we gotta untwist our minds about this stuff. I think that our lives will be much simpler the day we stop caring about who’s paying who for fake BAYC profile pics and just appreciate that we are the endgame and have high demand artwork.”
Franklin is followed by several big names in the NFT space. These include Garga, a BAYC co-founder and GMoney, who’s collaborated with Bored Ape Yacht Club. As well as this, GaryVee and Paris Hilton follow Franklin.
He has, of course, received a lot of hate for this from many people. @xBenJamminx said: “Is this a low key way to find out who to block?”. @Helloimmorgan added: “Did you get hacked”. And finally, @boredape93 questioned: “Seriously, WTF u doing?”.
About Ryder Ripps
Ryder Ripps is quite simply a BAYC hater. He believes that the Bored Ape Yacht Club is racist, and contains Nazi symbols within their traits. Nothing has been proven on this front in terms of the BAYC.
Ryder Ripps created a carbon copy Bored Ape Yacht Club collection on the Foundation platform. It is a collection of 1,100, compared to the original collection of 10,000 pieces. The current floor price is 0.15 ETH and there has been 88.62 ETH worth of total sales on the platform. You can get derivative projects, but this is simply a copy of the original collection by Yuga Labs. You can see the collection here.
The launch of this copycat BAYC collection by Ryder Ripps has seen contrasting opinions all over Twitter, with the majority of people being against the collection. But some, like Franklin, have shown support for whatever reason.
