Struggling artist goes viral, making almost four times his yearly wage in the first 12 hours selling NFTs. Also, NFT Twitter warmly welcomed the pseudonymous artist, congratulating him on his first Web3 success.
Struggling Artist Finds Success In NFTs
jmw327 is a “Concept Artist” and “Art Educator” specializing in stylized architecture and environments. Recently, the traditional artist decided to try out NFTs after being tired of making less than $10k a year.
In fact, jmw327 tweeted yesterday, “probably gonna try out nfts, dont understand them or why they are controversial, but cant keep making less than 10k a year and so if there is a chance want to be able to afford healthcare and stuff, sorry if it offends you and please do whatever makes you feel comfortable,”
In brief, artist jmw327 is working on a new game called Frontier Story. Furthermore, the NFT on auction is a pixel art wallpaper for this upcoming game.
At the time of writing, his debut wallpaper, “a little corner of town,” has the highest bid of 19 ETH. Moreover, we can see that NFT influencer Fvckrender has also bid on the art multiple times.
However, jmw327 has received some hate from his past followers for getting into NFTs. Addressing this, Fvckrender tweeted, “If your fans are bashing you for selling nfts, they are not your fans.” Overall, the NFT influencer seems to be very supportive of jmw327’s decision to venture into the NFT space.
Currently, jmw327 has over 153k followers on Twitter. In a recent reply to his original post, he wrote, “ahhhh im on the homepage [.] also thanks to everyone for all the dms and encouragement, overwhelmed right now but i will try to get to some of them when i can!”
Twitter user @mikkaverse commented, “even with the bearish market conditions, they’ll be earning 3x of their annual income, and when you see their art, you will know why they deserve it 100% because in web3, we value all kinds of content creators and we value them fairly.”
A Boon to Undervalued Artists
Since the rise of NFTs, it has been disrupting the art industry by giving more power to artists. Moreover, NFT art is rapidly changing the way artists make money. Also, NFTs are revolutionizing how artists work, create new projects and take ownership of their art.
Last year, NFT artist Beeple sold his “Everydays – The First 5000 Days”, making a whopping $69 million. In fact, it was a great example of how traditional artists can make a massive impact in the NFT space.
