Hey Manchester City fans, this one is for you! Man City is collaborating with Puma and digital artist Musketon to drop the 93:20 NFT collection. The drop will be in MakersPlace NFT marketplace, on Friday 13th May, 8pm UK Time.
Remembering ’93:20′
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Manchester City’s first Premier League title and the iconic 93:20 moment, the football club is dropping their 4th NFT collection. If you somehow missed one of the most historic days in Man City history, here’s how it went down.
Late in the game against QPR, they were down 2-1 and fans were starting to lose hope. But two minutes into injury time, 91:14 to be precise, Edin Dzeko rose and buried his header beyond the keeper to level the scores. Entering the 93 minute mark, the fans and staff members were hugging it out and ready to depart the game, but City players were not done. Sergio Aguero runs into a gap and gets the ball from Balotelli, and then…
At the 93:20 mark , Aguero strikes the ball cleanly, the net bulges, the Etihad absolutely erupts! Smiles, hugs, tears of joy instantly filled the stadium, and among Man City fans across the globe. Whether you’re a city fan or not, this one was something else.
Manchester City x Puma x Musketon
When Manchester City approached Musketon to join this project, he instantly said yes. He was proud to be part of the history-making goal and the club’s rich football history. He brings his unique visual artistic style to this NFT, playing with the essence of time to symbolize 93:20. The artwork also features Puma’s ULTRA Football Boots, which Puma will release on the same day of the NFT drop.
There will only be 120 pairs, created in homage to the goal. You can see the 93:20 graphics on the outside of the boots. In addition, the footbed features the famous ‘Agueroooooooo!’ line by the commentator. This Puma boot uses the same color palette of the original PUMA v1.11 football boots that Sergio Aguero was wearing.
Past City NFTs
This is not the club’s first rodeo in the NFT space. Manchester City dropped their first collection with Jon Noorlander in May 2021 to commemorate their Premier League title win. After that, they dropped their second collection with Alan Bolton. The Creation drop depicts an abstract representation of the process of creating the perfect footballer. Then, they entered into a partnership with Sony Corporation to build a replica of the Etihad Stadium in the metaverse. You can find all of the football club’s past NFTs on MakersPlace.
For Manchester City fans, getting this NFT means so much more as they can now be a part of the iconic experience. City’s Don Dransfield emphasizes their commitment to the blockchain and NFT space. They will also continue to collaborate with renowned talented creators, as well as their various club partners.
