Leeds United Football Club has just announced an NFT collection – Shirts For Ukraine – with proceeds going to Ukraine. The British football club joins a list of other notable figures and institutions that have created NFTs to support humanitarian action in Ukraine.
About Leeds United Football Club
Leeds United is a British football club based in the city of Leeds. The club has won a number of prestigious titles, including three English league titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup. The Leeds team plays in all-white kits at home matches. Its official badge features the Yorkshire symbol of the White Rose of York.
What we know so far about these NFTs
The Leeds United Football Club NFTs feature the exclusive “no war” shirts worn before the Club’s match against Manchester City. Each NFT is in the form of a card detailing the front and back of a player’s shirt, and that player’s signature. Furthermore, each NFT is a one-of-one, which means that only one of each NFT will be available at this particular time.
In addition to the NFT, holders can access physical rewards. These include two hospitality tickets for the Leeds versus Brighton match, a pitchside tour with the club’s legends, and the ability to attend an open training session. The NFTs are currently available on MakersPlace. Interested individuals do not need crypto wallets to mint these NFTs, although ETH is accepted.
Recently, the Ukrainian government launched a website to receive NFT and crypto donations. So far, the collection has 303 NFTs.
