Oscar-winning concept design and special effects company Wētā Workshop is entering the metaverse.This is a colossal name entering the space, and it will be interesting to see how they view the metaverse. Founded in 1987 by Richard Taylor & Tania Rodger, the team at Wētā Workshop is one of the world’s most sought after concept design specialists. The company has created iconic fixtures in cinematic history, including LOTR, Mad Max: Fury Road, Dune, Avatar, etc.Dr Grordbort and the Wētā WorkshopThe special effects and concept design company will enter the metaverse through the retro-futuristic steampunk series, Dr Grordbort. This whacky, satirical series ran from 2005 to 2008. Eventually, with Wētā Workshop founder Richard Taylor, they worked together and built on the lore and the ecosystem. Now, Dr Grordbort is entering the metaverse. In fact, there is an entire Dr Grordbort universe, complete with films, comics and physical figures. Significantly, Wētā Workshop is working with FLUF world, the metaverse ecosystem, to create a Dr Grordbort raygun NFT collection.It is unclear when the NFTs will go on sale, but some believe it is around the corner on Twitter. One user, @beleevens, said, We know that it is “Airdrop April,” in @flufworld, and @aaronmcdnz promised a few more incoming.
