Chess.com Announces A Chess Themed NFT Marketplace

Chess.com, an internet chess server and news website, has announced a first-of-its-kind NFT marketplace. Called Treasure Chess, the marketplace was created in collaboration with Wyre, a cryptocurrency compliance infrastructure provider. The marketplace enables users to create, buy, and sell NFTs based on Chess.com games.Chess.com’s NFT marketplace allows players to mint and sell NFTs.“We start with an amazing marketplace that doesn’t extract, but creates value for chess players, streamers and content creators,” said Joseph Schiarizzi, co-founder & CEO of Treasure Chess. “From here we raise the bar for NFT projects and anticipate applying this stack in many other places.”How does the Chess.com NFT marketplace work?Put simply, Treasure Chess allows chess and crypto fans to turn their games into unique NFTs called “Treasures”. Users can collect, trade, and sell their Treasures, which are based on the Polygon blockchain. Essentially, Treasures are game cards featuring a GIF reproduction of the game. Besides, it includes information such as usernames, ratings, game results, and achievements. The achievements are basically the three top features the NFT creator achieved during a Chess.com game. These are given points based on their difficulty to achieve.All Chess.com players have the option to opt-in to Treasure Chess and create Tressures. Every player can mint a single game two times. Moreover, their first three Treasures are free to mint. Post this, it will cost $5 to mint a Tressure. In addition, creators will get 100% of the proceeds of the first sale. After this, they will get 95% of the proceeds of any subsequent sale.
