Archie Comics Launches NFT-Gated Writer’s Room

Archie Comics Archieverse NFT Writer Room

Iconic comic book publishers Archie Comics is coming to the blockchain to create fan-generated art and storylines, as well as an NFT collection. To facilitate its move into Web3, the 80 year old franchise has collaborated with Palm NFT Studios to create a blockchain-based writer’s room called ‘Archiverse: Eclipse’.
Unlike usual writers’ rooms, which are comprised of employed showrunners, TV writers, and producers, the ‘Archiverse: Eclipse’ writer’s room will come with an apt twist, as only those who own a specific NFT will have access to content creation.
The Archiverse: Eclipse NFTs in question will drop on May 16th, and will be inspired by ‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,’ a series published by Archie Comics’ horror brand. There will be 6,666 generated characters and 3,000,000,000 outcomes from the collection, which according to the company, are designed for NFT holders to cultivate and create an ominous and publishable prophecy from.
From here, if submissions are selected for publishing, then the contributors will be paid directly, whilst also given ‘story credit’ in future comic series integration.
Archie Comics’ decision to consult the expertise of Palm NFT Studios is certainly a smart move, as the New York-based Web3 ecosystem is no stranger to comic book blockchain endeavours. The company was the development powerhouse behind the mass Bat Cowl NFT collection from DC Comics earlier this month.
