However, the US Air Force has gone a step further with its latest Metaverse trademark application.US Air Force. credits: WorldAtlasSpaceVerse Metaverse Trademark ApplicationAccording to trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis, the US Air Force (USAF) has filed a trademark application for “SpaceVerse.” The USAF submitted the application on April 14, 2022, to the US Patent and Trademark Office to expand military training into the Metaverse. While the Office has accepted the trademark application, they are yet to assign an examiner.Credits: @KondoudisLawOn April 19, Kondoudis tweeted that “SpaceVerse” will “converge terrestrial and space physical and digital realities.” In addition, it will also provide “extended-reality training, testing, and operations environments.”Into The US Air Force SpaceVerseWhile not much information is available now, the Metaverse trademark application claims “SpaceVerse” to be a “secure digital Metaverse.” It is most likely a closed system that provides a simulated testing and training environment for US Air Force pilots.It’s still unclear whether SpaceVerse is connected to the United States Space Force, the US Armed Forces’ space service branch. Founded in 2019, USSF organizes, trains, and equips space forces to protect US and allied space interests.Surge In Metaverse Trademark ApplicationsIn the past few months, the number of Metaverse and NFT-related trademarks has skyrocketed. According to USPTO reports, it has received 1,263 NFT trademark applications in 2021, 421 times more than in 2020.
