You can log NFTs as the latest medium that the entertainment behemoth Disney is looking to dominate. Indeed, the iconic company has been active in the NFT space for some time. What’s more, the House of Mouse has many plans in place to expand on its endeavors in the world of digital assets and the metaverse.Let’s dive into some of the major NFT collections from Disney out today. The biggest entertainment brand in the world has released a number of NFTs, with bigger plans coming down the pipeline. First founded back in 1923 as Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, The Walt Disney Company is the creator and owner of some of the most beloved IP in existence. As NFTs grew in popularity over 2021, people fully expected to see major brands trying their hand at releasing their own NFT collectibles. And of course, when it comes to popular brands, it doesn’t get any bigger than Disney.Brands have taken a couple of different approaches when it comes to how they enter the space. While some have executed their own drops, many have opted to partner up with Web3 native companies. The latter tactic is what Disney has gone for so far.Marvel’s Spider-Man NFT drop on VeVe was the Disney-owned company’s first-ever NFT. For those who don’t know, VeVe is an app-based marketplace that specializes in licensed NFT drops from some of the biggest brands in the world. It’s safe to say that the move has paid off significantly for both parties. Like most collections on VeVe, Disney NFTs sell out rapidly on the days that they launch. By the same token, their prices on the secondary market are generally magnitudes higher than when they first sell.Disney has technically been involved in NFTs on VeVe for almost a full year. That’s because VeVe did an NFT drop based on the Marvel Comics property “The Rise of Ultraman” back in April 2021. Of course, Marvel is one of the massive brands that Disney has acquired over the years. In addition, Marvel and VeVe followed up with a number of high-profile NFT drops after that. With that being said, the first fully branded Disney NFTs came in November 2021. At that time, Disney and VeVe launched an NFT collection of “Disney Golden Moments”. These NFTs were launched to mark Disney+ Day – a celebration of Disney’s subscription streaming service Disney+.The Disney VeVe NFT CollectionsDisney first launched its Golden Moments Collection to celebrate its streaming service Disney+. To that end, the NFTs were golden 3D statues showcasing some of the major Disney properties on Disney Plus. The Simpsons Golden Moments NFTs came first on Nov. 7, 2021, with the Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars NFTs dropping on subsequent days after that.Notably, each collection came with 18,666 NFTs in the collection, save for the Pixar Golden Moments (16,666). Also, each collection featured one higher edition “Uncommon” NFT, and one lower edition “Rare” NFT.Not only that but the collections also launched with a Blind Box format that mimics most NFT mints today. That is to say, there was a flat price of 60 Gems (more on those later) at launch, and buyers wouldn’t know which NFT they had until after the sale finished.Lastly, but by no means least, Disney capped off that first week of the Golden Moments NFT sales with a drop of 4,333 statues of Walt Disney holding Mickey Mouse’s hand. These Ultra Rare NFTs sold at a price of 333 Gems. Given that the lowest price of these rare collectibles is now 16,400 gems, it seems fair to say that those lucky buyers were more than happy to get those before they sold out.Since that time Disney has sold Golden Moments collections for Valentine’s Day 2022, as well as a collection of Disney Duos NFTs on Mar. 19, 2022.Disney immortalized the “Steamboat Willie” era Mickey Mouse in this VeVe NFT collection. Credit: VeVe x DisneyThe Mickey Mouse NFT CollectionAs its name suggests, The Mickey Mouse NFT Collection celebrates Disney’s legendary mascot. It celebrates some of his most iconic moments and iterations over time.Series 1 of the collection was based on Mickey Mouse’s first public appearance, and the first-ever synchronized sound cartoon, Steamboat Willie. The collection of around 40,000 NFTs had an initial sale price of 60 gems. Launching on Dec. 22, 2021, it also employed the Blind Box format to distribute its three different rarity classes. The second series in the collection featured Bandleader Mickey from Walt Disney Animations’ The Band Concert. This collection dropped on Apr. 2, 2022, with the same price, collection size, and rarity distributions as the first series.Disney has started to roll out its roster of historic cartoons on the VeVe platform. Credit: VeVe x DisneyMickey and Friends – Series 1Disney dropped this collection of nearly 60,000 NFTs on VeVe back on Jan. 29, 2022. The collection again features Mickey Mouse, along with five of its other historic cartoon characters. To list, it also included Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Pluto, and Goofy. As with many VeVe NFT collections, these Disney collectibles came separated into five rarity groups: Common (Mickey & Minnie), Uncommon (Donald Duck), Rare (Daisy Duck), Ultra Rare (Pluto), and Secret Rare (Goofy). The collection also sold as a Blind Box Series at 40 gems. The Pixar Pals collection was a roaring success. These NFTs, including characters from Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Monsters Inc, made a major splash upon their release. Needless to say, they sold out fast!Marvel set the tone for Disney companies on VeVe. Credit: VeVe x DisneyMarvel CollectionsGiven the fact that VeVe had been putting out Marvel NFT collections months before the first Disney-branded collection, it’s no surprise that there are a ton of VeVe Marvel NFTs out already. The partnership’s first high-profile drop was a Spider-Man collection back on Aug. 7, 2021. Since then, Marvel and VeVe have pumped out many drops featuring some of comic books’ greatest heroes. Iconic superheroes from the X-Men, The Avengers, The Guardians of The Galaxy, and Black Panther franchises have all been immortalized as VeVe NFTs.As of now, VeVe is the NFT home of Disney IP. Credit: VeVeHow you can buy Disney NFTsFirstly, you’ll of course need to be set up on the VeVe app in order to buy any of the existing Disney NFTs. In contrast to the wider NFT market, which sees NFTs trading in cryptocurrencies like ETH, SOL, or XTZ, VeVe NFTs trade exclusively using the platform’s own currency, called Gems. To clarify, one Gem equals one US dollar.Once you’ve set up your VeVe account and purchased some gems, you’re ready to start collecting NFTs! It is important to repeat that VeVe drops, while they happen frequently, are intensely popular. That means they almost always sell out in minutes. The bright side is that you won’t suffer from money lost in failed transactions, as happens with ETH NFTs for example. So to get the best value on VeVe drops, it doesn’t hurt to try and get in on the initial sale.Of course, you can always look for good deals on Disney NFTs on the secondary market. While these prices will definitely be higher, keep in mind that most Disney NFT drops on VeVe are blind box format. So at least with the secondary market, you can actually select the exact NFT/rarity that you want. All in all, Disney NFTs on VeVe are an exciting proposition. As the first collectibles from some of the world’s most valuable IP, they could end up being quite valuable in the future. Certainly, it appears that Disney has some big plans in the NFT department for the future. Until then, you can download VeVe and get involved right now!Are you tired of missing important NFT drops?Just check out our NFT Calendar!Receive the biggest NFT news of the day & recommendations in our Daily newsletter.  All investment/financial opinions expressed by NFTevening.com are not recommendations. This article is educational material. As always, make your own research prior to making any kind of investment.
