Lego and Epic Games partner to make the metaverse safe for children

With the global metaverse expanse, the VR realm still can hardly be called a child-friendly space. Thus, to fix the issue, two giants mostly targeted at the kids’ audience, namely Lego and Epic Games, are teaming up for a good mission.
For now, the details on the upcoming “Childrenverse” haven’t been announced yet. However, the three key principles that will move the collaboration further have been already sounded:

Protect children’s right to play by making safety and wellbeing a priority
Safeguard children’s privacy by putting their best interests first
Empower children and adults with tools that give them control over their digital experience.

Summing up all the above stated, the kids-friendly Metaverse by Lego and Epic Games will ensure to deliver the most novel engaging play opportunities in the most supervised and safe way. Their statement says the partnership’s mission is “make it safe and fun for children while also providing an immersive digital environment for children to play in.”
“The Lego Group has captured children and adults’ imaginations through creative play for over a century. We are pleased to cooperate in building a fun, engaging, and family-friendly area in the metaverse,” the Epic CEO and founder Tim Sweeney claimed in the statement, published on the Epic Games official website.
According to Sweeney, the metaverse is an “online playground”. Through it, users can hang out, spend free time together, watch movies, etc. Moreover, according to the Epic CEO, this would “empower youngsters to become confident creators”.
“Kids enjoy playing in digital and physical worlds and move seamlessly between the two. We believe there is huge potential for them to develop lifelong skills such as creativity, collaboration, and communication through digital experiences. But we have a responsibility to make them safe, inspiring, and beneficial for all,” Niels B Christiansen, the CEO of Lego, continued his partner’s thoughts.
With Lego’s over 90 years of delivering safe and exciting playing experiences and Epic Games’ expertise in secure digital engagement with children under 16, the upcoming child-friendly metaverse will definitely be a win-win.
